PHYS 050 - Provincial Physics (120 contact hours)
This course extends the introductory study of physical laws governing motion and forces to two dimensions, and introduces the studies of waves and light, and electromagnetism. Mathematics is used to describe physical phenomena, with an extensive use of vectors and trigonometry. Laboratory experiments are conducted to enhance understanding of physical concepts and to develop skills in planning, performing, and analysing experiments.
Prerequisites: i.”C” or higher in MATH 040 or MATH11 or PreCal11 or equivalent or Provincial Level Placement on the CCP Math Assessment;ii.”C” or higher in PHYS 040 or PHYS11 or equivalent. Restrictions: Must have been admitted to an NLC program.
