Millwright Apprenticeship

Millwrights dismantle, move, install, change layout, set-up, repair, overhaul and maintain all machinery and heavy mechanical equipment, including power shafting, pulleys, conveyors and hoists. They work from plans and blueprints and install equipment using hand tools, power tools, and hoisting equipment. Millwrights use grinders and lathes to make customized parts and construct machinery foundations.

The Millwright Apprenticeship Training Program includes levels 1-4 of the SkilledTradesBC prescribed Apprenticeship training.  See SkilledTradesBC for more information.

Eligibility as indicated by SkilledTradesBC.

Important Notes


  1. The program is not eligible for Canada Student Loans.

  2. Students must provide personal protective equipment (footwear having CSA safety-toe protection and CSA safety glasses with clear lenses).Students are required to have a computer (laptop or other mobile device) with minimum computer requirements.

  3. The program is affiliated with SkilledTradesBC.

Program Requirements


Residency Requirement 100% of each level must be completed at Northern Lights College or by approval of the Dean
Minimum Grade Requirements 70% minimum in all courses
Gap Training Students may be required to attend and complete gap training when transitioning from Classic to Harmonized levels
