HCAT 128 - Practice Experience in Home Support, Assisted Living, and/or Group Home Setting

(60 Contact Hours)

This preceptorship provides students with an opportunity to apply knowledge and skills from all other courses with individuals and families in a community setting. Opportunity will be provided for students under a mentor to become more familiar with the role of the HCA within a Home Support Agency, Assisted Living Facility, and/or a Group Home, and to gain abilities that will prepare graduates for employment in these settings. It is important that students understand the philosophy of community care settings and the importance of client choice and independence.

Prerequisites: HCAT 110  ; HCAT 111  ; HCAT 112  ; HCAT 113  ; HCAT 123  ; HCAT 124  ; HCAT 125  ; HCAT 126  ; HCAT 127  
Non-Course Prerequisites: Schedule B CRC (works with children and adults) and immunizations as specified in the Program Completion Guide
Restrictions: Must be in Health Care Assistant Program (HCAT1).
